The Imperial Palace

Another new adventure! On Wednesday we had a day off so Matt and I decided to go down to the Imperial Palace. First we saw Tokyo Sta. which is huge and is a brick, Western style building on the outside. It was amazing to see. I felt like I was back on the east coast!
Then we were able to walk around the outside of the palace and see the moat and various gates. The palace is only open to the public twice a year: December 23 which is the emperors birthday and for new years.
We were able to get into the East garden and it was beautiful. So many trees and they actually had open fields of grass! I haven''t seen that since I've been here! We plopped right down on that grass and just enjoyed the feeling. It was pretty dead brown grass that was pretty pokie but its the thought that counts.
So much walking that day but it was really worth it. We saw some great things that are a must for anyone traveling to Japan. Even if you can't get into the main palace the garden is enough to last you the whole day.
After the palace visit we stopped in Shibuya and had lunch at Sukiya which is cheap and good. They had cheese! Hahaha! Then it was off to the dorm and then quickly off again to church.
A very good day.
